The Park Hand Embroidered Cushion

£95.00

This cushion is based upon the predominantly Palestinian ‘tatreez’ motifs that Oshana used in the embroidered poster they stitched for Glastonbury Festival's Park stage line-up poster 2024.

Palestinian tatreez (cross-stitch embroidery) is included in UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage not just because of the incredible skill involved in the craft, but because of the central place tatreez holds in the history of Palestine. For many generations, women have passed on the art of embroidery to their daughters, including teaching them particular stitches linked to place and identity.

The doves, roosters, chickens, flowers and rabbits on the design are all based upon traditional embroidery motifs. Oshana wanted to create a piece that recognised and celebrated this rich heritage at a time when it is most under threat.
