Mamushka, like all the best cookbooks, plunges you into a realm of tastes and sensations and possibilities. Author Olia Hercules was born in Ukraine and the book is a celebration of the food of her childhood and of the surrounding area. It’s full of the joy of sharp cheeses, crunching poppy seeds, wild berries and fluted pastries.

For every copy Mamushka sold via Different Kind, £5 will be donated to Cook For Ukraine, the charity co-founded by the book’s author Olia Hercules.

We know Mamushka is a fabulous book (and the pages have the buttermilk and beetroot stains to prove it). But it also won Fortnum & Mason’s award for the best debut cookbook backin 2016 and has, since then, been translated into five languages and has sold over 100,000 copies worldwide. We wanted Different Kind customers to be able to find it too.

We’ve also admired the work Olia has done since the start of the Ukrainian war. Her charity, Cook For Ukraine, has done amazing work in terms of raising both awareness and funds.
